After 15 years with Change Matrix (CM), 2022 marks the end of CM Co-Founder Suganya Sockalingam, PhD’s entrepreneurial journey with the organization. The three CM founding partners knew each other during their days at the Center for Child and Human Development at Georgetown University. In 2006, Elizabeth Waetzig, JD and Rachele Espiritu, PhD’s families were moving away from the Washington, D.C. area, so they began exploring a way to maintain professional connections despite moving to different states.
They soon engaged in dialogue with Suganya, who had been an independent consultant for several years already. They explored the values that brought them together, their interest in being part of a company rather than working as individuals, and their commitment to balancing work and personal lives. They chose the name, Change Matrix, to reflect the work as supporters of change within systems and in communities to improve lives.
None of the founding partners expected CM to grow into the company that it is now. With a team of 19 members who span five decades, live in every time zone in North America, and bring diverse skills and lived experience to work, they are especially grateful for Suganya’s efforts throughout its history.
Thank you, Suganya, for taking the risk to begin a new journey with CM, despite not knowing the path it would bring you down. Thank you for your deep commitment to supporting leaders, organizations, and communities to improve lives through your focus on cultural competence, adaptive leadership, and health equity. Thank you for the mentorship and guidance of so many of CM’s team members.
We wish you the best as you begin this next phase of your life.
