California Reducing Disparities Project (CRDP)

What is it?

The California Reducing Disparities Project (CRDP) is a statewide initiative that addresses mental health inequities among historically marginalized populations in California, including African American, Asian and Pacific Islander, Latino, Native American, and LGBTQIAA+ communities. In Phase II, the project supports community-based organizations delivering culturally and linguistically appropriate prevention and early intervention services. Through the LGBTQ technical assistance (TA) Center, six pilot grantees receive targeted support to develop and implement community-defined, evidence-based practices that meet the unique mental health needs of LGBTQIAA+ individuals and families.

What Change Matrix does

Change Matrix (CM) partners with the Center for Applied Research Solutions (CARS) to provide TA to these grantees, offering capacity-building, leadership coaching, peer learning, and implementation support to strengthen organizational infrastructure and sustainability. This partnership equips grantees with the tools and guidance needed to create lasting, culturally responsive mental health programs.

Why we love this work

We love this work because it centers community wisdom, equity, and healing-aligning with CM’s mission to care for both systems and communities. By uplifting the voices of small, LGBTQIAA+-led organizations, this work helps transform not only services but also the systems that deliver them, ensuring mental health care that is inclusive, affirming, and community-driven.
