What is it?
The 988 Crisis System Response Training and Technical Assistance Center (988 CSR-TTAC) (2023-Present) provides comprehensive support to States, Territories, Tribal Nations, and community partners. Its primary goal is to strengthen the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline network and the broader behavioral health crisis continuum of care.
The 988 CSR-TTAC’s mission is to foster crisis care systems that are:
- Integrated and sustainable
- Just for all individuals
- Grounded in evidence-based and evidence-informed practice
What Change Matrix does
Change Matrix (CM) is a proud partner within the 988 CSR-TTAC, bringing deep expertise in addressing the unique needs of diverse communities. Our focus areas include Children, Youth, and Families, Tribal Training and Technical Assistance, and Building Capacity for High-Risk Populations.
Through the 988 CSR-TTAC, Change Matrix leads and contributes to several key efforts:
- Supporting System Development: Assisting states in planning, implementing, and sustaining 988-aligned crisis systems.
- Elevating Holistic Consideration: Embedding culturally responsive and equitable approaches into crisis system design and the delivery of technical assistance. This includes addressing the diverse needs of rural communities, youth populations, individuals with lived experience, and historically underserved groups.
- Strengthening Partnerships: Fostering collaboration between behavioral health providers, peer support specialists, first responders, and community organizations.
- Facilitating Learning: Co-designing policy academies, planning a wide array of learning opportunities (such as webinars and peer-to-peer exchanges), and providing tailored technical assistance to share promising practices nationwide.
Why we love this work
This work with the 988 CSR-TTAC directly advances Change Matrix’s mission: to strengthen the capacity of systems and communities to promote respect and help improve lives.
The 988 CSR-TTAC initiative reflects our commitment to helping communities create behavioral health systems that are receptive and responsive. By actively integrating culturally and linguistically responsive strategies into crisis response, we help ensure that all individuals—regardless of their background or geographic location—receive timely, effective, and person-centered support. This focus on equitable access and outcomes is central to CM’s values.
