This second session in the series asks: How might we create safe and brave spaces to uplift the wisdom and leadership of historically targeted identities in healing work?

The learning objectives include:

  1. How to create brave and safe spaces for young people who are historically oppressed
  2. Teaching advocacy to young people to ensure they know their rights and how to heal through oppression
  3. Incorporate ways to implement healing-centered care within the workplace to work against oppression

Healing-centered care allows us to dig deeper. Join Youth and Young Adult co-leads Oriana Ides and Evelyn Clark on March 27 at 6 pm EST as they lay the groundwork and explore how healing-centered care may be integrated to the practices of YYA-serving organizations.

  • Counter the impacts of vicarious trauma and burn out by creating a safe and responsive learning community for the YYA workforce to be heard and seen in their efforts to support the holistic needs of their clientele.
  • Build an understanding of healing centered engagement and approaches to youth development and case management that strengthens service provision for transition-aged youth.
  • Expand our organizational and individual capacity to support young adult holistic wellness, critical consciousness development, and collective healing.

This is Session 2 of 4 in the “Rooting Young Adult Mental Health Services in Culturally Sustaining Values & Practices” Series.
