Change Matrix (CM) partnered with AAPI Data to plan and implement the Seeding Policy Action through Research and Community (SPARC) Summit. Held on January 12, 2024, in Sacramento, CA, the purpose of the SPARC Summit was to cultivate knowledge and partnerships toward the goal of increasing understanding about critical issues facing Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities. This event brought together researchers of AANHPI issues, staff from government agencies and legislative offices, community organizations, and community-supportive philanthropy with a focus on building intentional relationships across different sectors; increasing understanding about critical issues in health, education, and economic justice in AANHPI communities; and identifying recommendations for research, legislative, and funding agendas.

It was an amazing opportunity to engage in rich dialogue and walk away with specific action plans and strategies to address the needs of the AANHPI community in California. CM Co-Founder Rachele Espiritu, PhD even got to re-engage with her very first Asian teacher, professor Yen Espiritu at University of California San Diego.
