The ongoing pandemics of racism, COVID-19, and health inequity have come together and put the world at a vital turning point. In order to make positive change for ongoing equity and justice, we must collaborate to work through each issue in unity. Today, Change Matrix stands together with Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities to denounce the steady increase of racially motivated attacks, especially against elders, that have been going on as a result of world events.
Additionally, statistics show that the AANHPI community is the least likely of any racial or ethnic group to report mental health issues and to seek mental health services, which only exacerbates the issue the group is currently facing. At Change Matrix, we are making note of the cultural and structural barriers that AANHPI community members face in accessing mental health services and pushing for awareness of these struggles by sharing this list of insightful resources and information about the topic:
