Change Matrix, LLC (CM) is a small, women- and minority-owned business that develops and offers tools and resources to motivate, manage, and measure change. We are seeking a financial manager with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an excellent understanding of business and accounting concepts. A high-quality candidate should also have proven leadership ability and experience in management. Interpersonal skills are desirable since the Financial Manager will interact with employees and executive management.

Overview of the Position

Change Matrix is seeking an experienced, full-time Financial Manager who will support contracting and invoicing for all national, state, and local projects; oversee all billing, payroll, project invoicing, accounts payable and receivable; prepare reports and records for contract and audit compliance; assure high degree of accuracy and contract compliance; develop financial forecasts and other reports; develop and negotiate contracts with subject-matter experts; develop subcontractor budgets; and provide day-to-day financial management. The candidate will bring the following skills and qualifications:

  • Exceptional numerical ability

  • Experience with spreadsheet and financial analysis software
  • Knowledge of regulatory and other financial standards and requirements
  • Understanding of taxation, payroll and other fiscal aspects of a business
  • Experience conducting audits
  • Attention to detail coupled with patience and tenacity
  • Proven ability to commit to timelines and expectations of projects
  • Willingness and capacity to work remotely including virtual communication and collaboration and self-management
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Job Responsibilities:

This role will involve the following:

  • Tracking project details, budgets, and deadlines
  • Journalizing Financial transactions
  • Managing the chart of accounts
  • Monthly, Quarterly, and annual closeouts and reporting
  • Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payable Management
  • Business tax preparation and partner K-1s
  • Tax payments
  • Payroll Management
  • Interpreting financial reports to the partners
  • Employee benefit management
  • 401K reporting
  • Record keeping and management
  • Participation in weekly administration and staff meetings and project meetings, as needed
Ideal Candidate:
  • Minimum of five years of experience in financial management and accounting
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or higher (or experiential equivalent) in accounting or business administration, certified public accountant (CPA) or a certified management accountant (CMA) preferred
  • Proficient use of Quickbooks
  • Proficient use of Office 365, Google suite, and project management platforms
  • Work effectively on teams with internal and external partners
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain a schedule while staying flexible based on different priorities
  • Strong ability to manage multiple, team-based projects
  • Experience in identifying and addressing problems and inviting collaborative problem-solving
  • Excellent organization skills and an ability to engage the team in an organizational approach that is effective and sustainable
  • Self-motivated, attentive, taking initiative with reliable follow-through
  • Experience establishing relationships across multiple and diverse teams
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to write clearly, speak to diverse audiences, listen and connect with partners, staff, and colleagues at multiple levels

Compensation and Benefits
  • The salary range for this position is $85,000-$105,000 depending on experience.
  • Change Matrix offers an open policy for paid time off (PTO). It is important to CM that team members have time to restore and recharge away from work. The policy is built on trust and collaboration with team members. We also offer five paid holiday days and one week of sick leave.
  • We offer a contribution to an employer-sponsored health plan upon employment and a retirement plan with matching contributions after six months of full-time employment.
Location and Technology
  • Change Matrix is a virtual company and has team members located across the United States.
  • Candidate must have access to a quiet workspace that has adequate internet connectivity that supports online presentations and collaborative work.
  • Change Matrix supports the use of Mac computers and contributes $500 towards the purchase of a Mac computer and/or provides a loaner computer or laptop for team members.
