We write to you with hands on hearts in light of multiple events, most recently the school shooting in Texas. We also believe that we have been collectively and individually navigating multiple experiences of systemic, racialized, and patterned violence from Buffalo, New York, to Palestine to Orange County, California, and now to Uvalde, Texas, all in the last week or so. And this week we observed the two-year anniversary of the murder of George Floyd. We mourn for the families, the school, and the communities directly impacted. We grieve with them and with so many who have experienced loss as a result of gun violence. As a nation, we must do more to protect the lives of our children and our communities.

We hope each of you are able to find the time and support to care for yourself and your loved ones, and that you can continue to effectively support your children, youth, young adults, staff, and communities.

Please access the resources below that can provide guidance and assistance to those who need it at this time.

We recognize that feelings that emerge immediately may require different needs than what might come up later on. We all process differently. Please do not hesitate to seek support next week, weeks later. Any time. No judgment. Needs are not linear, and support is available.
