In 2021 the American Psychological Association (APA) took responsibility and acknowledged its role and complicity in “contributing to systemic inequities” and that it “hurt many through racism, racial discrimination, and denigration of people of color, thereby falling short on its mission to benefit society and improve lives” via a resolution.
In honor of Black History Month, Change Matrix is acknowledging and commending the organization for this step, especially because the APA listed out the specific practices and harms it is apologizing for.
