May marks Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This is a time to celebrate the culture, history, and contributions of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community. A recent article in the Harvard Business Review demonstrated five methods for businesses to “better manage their Asian American talent and share in the upside.”
Those included:
- Stop managing diversity as risk management vs. opportunity.
- Switch from a binary to a spectrum mindset when it comes to bias.
- Reassess and recalibrate subjective leadership potential metrics.
- Colleges and MBA programs must better address bias.
- Asian Americans need to confront their own biases.
This resonated with us at Change Matrix (CM), because during the month of May and beyond, we work to ensure that every member of our staff feels that they are working in an equitable environment that allows for them to thrive. At the same time, we make an effort to recognize the unique talents, skills, and perspectives that a diverse workforce brings.
