As we kick off 2021, we are excited to welcome three new Change Specialists to our Change Matrix staff! They each bring professional experience, diverse lived experience, as well as skills and talents that are relevant to our work!
Chyenne Mallinson (she/her/hers) was born in Riverdale, Georgia and raised in Hollywood, Florida. As a former foster child, she is dedicated to helping disadvantaged youth and people of color in all aspects of her personal and professional life.
Chyenne graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelor of Arts after majoring in English and minoring in Gender Studies. Through courses focused on minority groups and oppressed voices, Chyenne became even more passionate about social equity, mental health, and supporting oppressed communities. During her time at her university, Chyenne published her own research on poetry therapy for veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Prior to joining the Change Matrix team, Chyenne worked as a freelance editor and tutor. As a former member of the Urban League of Broward County, she spent much of her youth enriching herself with African American studies and community-based volunteer work. She also dedicated her time to volunteering for political campaigns, helping elementary-age students struggling with reading comprehension, and working on various projects through her temple. In 2017, she had the opportunity to teach English and permaculture abroad in Thailand.
Outside of her professional life, Chyenne enjoys cooking, dancing, playing music, creating art, and writing poetry and creative nonfiction. She hopes to publish her creative work one day.
Eve Kucharski (she/her/hers) brings 5 years of content creation and editing experience to Change Matrix. A graduate of Michigan State University, she earned a journalism degree with a concentration in electronic news media.
Her focus on multimedia reporting has given her the opportunity to work across a variety of both print- and broadcasting-focused positions, eventually leading her to work as an editor at Between The Lines Newspaper, the largest LGBTQ-focused publication in the state of Michigan.
Throughout her time as a reporter, she has focused on stories about equity, inclusion, underserved populations, and community-building. This experience has given her insight on how to effectively communicate with both the general public and professionals working in the field of social justice. She is excited to bring her communications skill set to the Change Matrix team and aid its broader mission to motivate, manage, and measure change.
Evelyn Clark (she/her/hers) is a Mexican-Native American woman. She was born in Fremont CA. Evelyn now lives in Olympia, WA along the beautiful Puget Sound with her Husband Andre and daughter, Ava. She Loves walks along HER beach and loves to connect with others. Evelyn is a Certified Peer counselor, she was certified by WA State in 2012.
Her passions for this work include ending racial disparities for BIPOC and leadership development. She believes that community is the answer for people to get the best quality of services. Her work models “nothing about us without us” which speaks to including the community and the ones we are serving in all we do. She has experience at the community, state government and international level. Both her lived experience and work experience drive her heart and her why for this work. She has been able to break stigma for those involved in the juvenile justice and criminal justice systems and other systems including foster care, homelessness and substance use. Evelyn brings heart, empathy and vulnerability to her work which makes her a courageous and daring leader.
