The US Department of Health Services has developed the Enhanced CLAS (culturally and linguistically appropriate services) Standards to provide guidance to organizations. The National CLAS Standards are intended to advance health equity, improve quality, and help eliminate health care disparities by establishing a blueprint for health and health care organizations.

The challenge for many is in how to interpret the guidance into clear policies, structures, and operating procedures within their organizations and systems. This tool is designed to help organizations as they apply these standards into policies, structures, and processes. The tool includes the standards and questions to ask as groups design and implement strategies.
