Change Matrix partnered with the National Asian American Pacific Islander Mental Health Association (NAAPIMHA)

The overall goal of Kokoro Kara, Japanese for “From the heart,” is to address health equity through a whole health approach – mind, body, and spirit. The project culturally-adapted the Peer Whole Health & Resilience training, developed by the Appalachian Consulting Group, to train Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) consumers and para-professionals to become Wellness Coaches.

Change Matrix is implemented a culturally-driven evaluation plan to track and monitor the achievement of the Kokora Kara goals and objectives.

Change Matrix’s approach facilitated a collaborative evaluation process based upon the principles embodied in utilization-focused evaluation that is “done for and with specific, intended primary users for specific, intended uses.” (Patton, M. [1997] Evaluation Practice, p. 23) Our approach to evaluation is built on our experience with:

  • Effective partnerships with communities
  • Innovative evaluation strategies
  • Field-driven approaches
  • Participatory action oriented processes
  • Cultural competence
